Software Engineer

iamsam.

Software engineer building internal tools, mobile apps, and products on the side.

Most of my day-to-day work is around internal software, workflow improvements, and tools people actually rely on. I’ve also been growing into mobile development and continuing to learn more around DevOps, infrastructure, and the systems behind good software delivery.

About Sam

So why software engineering?

I’ve always liked building things and figuring out how they should work. Software just ended up being one of the best outlets for that.

A lot of what I enjoy is taking an idea, cleaning it up, and turning it into something real. Sometimes that’s for work, sometimes it’s a side project, and sometimes it’s just something I want to see if I can build.

Outside of software, I’m still wired the same way. I like tools, systems, projects, and anything that can be improved, built better, or thought through from the ground up.

My 9-5

A look at the kind of software work I do Monday through Friday.

Day to day

I build internal software tools for Nidec, mainly around motor programming and end-of-line motor testing. A lot of my work is making sure those tools support what engineering and production need, while also improving the workflows around them.

Stack and tools

Most of my professional stack has been C#, .NET, and WPF. More recently, I’ve taken ownership of mobile application work by bringing in native apps from a third-party company and consolidating multiple codebases into a single .NET MAUI C# app.

Ownership

I am currently the solo mobile application engineer, so all of that work has fallen under me to own and move forward. On top of that, I have also taken on a lead role on the frontend side of a newer project, helping guide the implementation and push that work in the right direction.

Personal Projects

What I build outside of work.

These are the kinds of projects I build in my free time, usually with JavaScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
